Classes Suspended

Green leaves made wet by the rain.

For the past days, many eyes are glued on weather forecast as torrential rains are affecting their area. Over the weekend, the weather bulletin has been monitoring a low pressure area which became a tropical storm locally named as Falcon. The weather disturbance intensified that put the northern provinces of Luzon under storm warning signals. Some cities have televised suspension of classes. In Pangasinan, the governor declared a localized suspension of classes on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 as per advised by the province disaster risk reduction management council.

Before I slept, heavy rain poured down in our barangay. The cold weather put me into good sleep. I was awaken by my alarm clock at three in the morning. I immediately opened my Internet connection to catch the latest update about the weather condition. Our mayor suspended the classes for the next day from preschool to senior high school. The announcement was shared quickly by other locals.

The southwest monsoon or habagat add up the rainfall. I know some of my learners are "jubilant" about this as I have heard their wish several times. But, I think the farmers are the happiest as they can prepare the fields for rice planting. Last month, there were few days of raining. Many of them are worried seeing their lands drying up due to scorching heat of the sun. Now, the days of waiting has stopped as the clouds heard their plea.

Yard gets watery.

Let us admit, we are lazy to take a bath early in the morning. The weather makes us chill. I bet you have drunk more than a cup of coffee. There is a great feeling of holding your cup, sipping your drink, watching the rain drops outside with your favorite song played at the background. This is the best time to get sentimental.

This is a perfect opportunity for me to read fiction. My hands are excited to move the pages of a novel I purchased two months ago. Of course, I will take an afternoon nap. This is the perfect time to rest. Sleeping is charging time and a gift to myself as I spend my weekends studying for a degree.

I pray that all will be safe with Falcon's onslaught. If possible, do not go anywhere. Stay at home unless there is really an important thing to attend to. Be updated about the latest weather bulletin.
