Give Earth a Break

Few minutes from now, some parts of the planet will go dark as countries will participate in the Earth Hour. People and business establishments are encouraged to turn off non- essential lights for an hour. This environmental activity takes place annually during the last Saturday of March at 8:30 to 9:30 in the evening.

How this movement started? Based on the website earthhour.org, this began in 2007 when World Wide Fund for Nature and others made a symbolic lights- out event in Sydney. The website further mentioned that more 180 countries have been participating in this activity. Due to the coronavirus disease or CoVID- 19 pandemic, the organizers opted to observe it digitally.

If you are interested, you can join by signing up in the website. They will ask you about your personal information and how are you going to take part. I chose signing off lights at home. With this, we can save electricity at the same time alleviate the environmental burden of this world.
